INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS COUNCILS

Though the concept of social dialogue was put forward by ILO in 1985 in a convention Belgium, the implementation of this concept in Turkey is rare. In developed countries, the concept of social dialogue plays the basic role in industrial relations.

In Turkey industrial relations council first met in UNILEVER whose workers are represented by Öz Gıda-İş in 1992. The main goal of the council is to settle with the employer and his/her representatives. In some documents, written in Turkey, this approach is called "Öz Gıda İş Model in social Dialogue".

Employer and employee parties take place in these councils and employee party consists of professional trade unionists from union and a unit of local workers. Making direct contact with company management is supported by our trade union. In the councils relevant issues are analyzed and routine problems are solved in an effective way swiftly.

As you know, the trickiest part of trade unionism is the performance of collective bargaining agreements. In years, it was understood that the healthy performance of industrial relations councils in a way to create positive results, enables collective bargaining agreement negotiations to be finalized with positive results.
